In our experience, when compared with 2% thoriated tungsten, 2% lanthanated tungsten electrodes work as well or better than thoriated and can handle both low amperage as well as higher amperage than thoriated. While it does not break quite as cleanly, this welding electrode works well on carbon steels, stainless steel, nickel alloys, aluminum, magnesium, titanium, cobalt, copper alloys, pot metal, and everything else!
